1467502388 Improving Tracking Efficiency of Two Axis Tracking Systems

Abstract: That power obtained from solar panels is DC requires to use the motors having DC motor characteristics in these systems. Easiness to control and to start running at desired speed make DC motors preferred in tracking systems. The motor used in the system is a brushed permanent magnet DC motor. Damper Motor (DM) structure consists of DC motor and a coupled gear unit (having 15 gears). Moment of DM is increased by the help of gearbox (16 Nm). DMs are the DC motor types that are easily controlled under varying loads. These motors are used in both axis of designed sun tracking system and they performed well without any trouble. Movement of panels through North-South and East-West in the system is performed slow and accurate. Total power consumption for both axes is measured as 3 W. This is important to decrease the consumed power in existing sun tracking systems.
