1466758254 An Analysis of Students’ Views about the Usability of Multiple Intelligence Theory: Linear Equations and Coordinate System

Abstract
The aim of this study is to introduce the activities prepared according to the Multiple Intelligence Theory for the subject of Linear Equations and Coordinate System at Grade 7 and evaluate students’ views. With this aim in mind, five activities that were relevant to educational attainments of Grade 7 were developed according to the Multiple Intelligence Theory. Using purposive sampling strategy, 15 seventh-grade students with high mean scores in maths were selected. A questionnaire comprised of four open-ended items was used to collect students’ views. Collected data were analysed descriptively. To sum up the results, students asserted that it was enjoyable to do Multiple Intelligence activities, that learning the subject became more permanent with activities and that they were contented with classes. It is believed that such activities will enhance connecting the subject to other fields and everyday life, and that students’ perceptions about the value of maths will thus improve.
