In this study, speed control of the permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) with sinusoidal flux distribution fed by a 3-phase matrix converter is performed using field oriented control technique. For variouus speed and load conditions, simulation results are obtained from constructed permanent magnet synchronous motor Matlab/Simulink model by considering the the transient and steady state mathematical analysis in rotor reference plane and utilizing the matrix converter, which is based on Venturini modulation algorithm having q<=0.5 voltage conversion rate, as an controlled power source. Obtained results show that the motor proceeds development under the constant torque and torque ripples are significantly reduced while the dynamic performance is considerably improved.
