1448694374 The Numerıcal Investigation Of Wall Shear Stress Variation Along The Flows At Pipe Entrance

In this numerical study, variation of wall shear stress along the entrance region of a horizontal circular pipe flow was investigated for a steady and Newtonian flow. Since the pressure drops in the entrance region are being essential in the proper design of compact heat exchangers and e.g fluid flow devices which their design require a short pipe flow. Here, the numerical study was performed with five pipe sorts having different surface roughnesses. Flat velocity profile and high free stream turbulence level has been the input of the inlet flow condition. A transitional pipe flow regime was aimed to be investigated, so the the Reynolds numbers in the study have been between 3443 and 24317. Validation of the numerical study was tested across the experimental study which was performed before with that five pipe sorts and a good agreement was found between both with a mean deviation in 2% approximately. Variation of the wall shear stress in the enrance region was examined graphically with data provided by the numerical studies. Consequently, a numerical correlation which define the wall shear stress very well along entrance region has been derived from that study performed.
