1438265414 The relationship between commitment status and perceived transformational leadership types of physical education teachers provided by school directors

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between views of the formator and coordinator physical education teachers and transformational leadership styles and commitment status of the school directors. The study was conducted with the formator (N= 109) and coordinator (N= 56) physical education teachers participating in in-service training seminar organized by the Ministry of National Education. The data were obtained with the help of “Transformational Leadership Survey, Organizational Commitment Questionnaire and demographic information”. The scores that formator and coordinator physical education teachers received from “Commitment Scale sub-dimension” scale were found to be close to each other. There found no relationships between the commitment levels of the formator and coordinator physical education teachers and the transformational leadership styles of the directors. Also, no statistical significant differences could be determined between the scores obtained by the directors of formator and the coordinator physical education teachers in transformational leadership style scale. According to the results of the study, it was determined that there were no significant differences between the commitment levels of the formator and coordinator physical education teachers; however, in perceiving the level of the transformational leadership styles of the directors, the scores were found to be close to each other.
