1399404432 Seismic and Electrical Resistivity Investigation of Underground Structure of Batman Provincial- Gültepe neighborhood

In this paper, geophysical and geotechnical researches are conducted in order to find out the underground structure and physical characteristics of the geological formations in the foundations of a block of flats located in structuring zone named as Gültepe District, Batman City. Ground electric sections are gained by conducting seismic refraction in two points and Schlumberger electrot configrated vertical electric sounding. As a result of studies, the seismic velocity value softier sand three different layers in terms of seismic velocity values are determined. First and secondary layers have the characteristics of slack ground. Third layers represent sthick units. Conducted Vertical Electric Sounding is supporting there sults gained in the seismic profiles as well. Lower resistivity values gained as a result of Conducted Vertical Electric Sounding studies showed, the probability of existance underground water in the sixthmeter. In this paper ground-structure interaction is examined. Also, determination of ground problems in Batman City Center and necessary precations recommended.
