The destructive effects of earthquakes in Van and its around in between
October and November 2011 on registered immovable cultural assets located in the
center of Van were investigated.
Considerable destruction and cracks were identified at the last community place
and the minarets of the mosque belonging to Husrev Pasha Külliye ,where concrete
earthquake effects can be seen on monument structures mostly in the Old City of
Van and which is one of the prestige structures of the XVI. Century Ottoman period.
Majority of stones in the exterior coating on the roof of the Anonymous vault which
is in Van-Ercis and has a historical value of the region in terms of shrine architecture
and said to have been built in the name of Kara Yusuf who is the ruler of Karakoyunlu
were observed to have been destroyed
In addition, the matter of what kind of preventive measures can be taken will be
queried and examples from applications will be given especially before and after
earthquake especially in restoration applications.
