1356267298 The Relationship Between Ethnographer’s Values and Research Method and Results

Number of studies based on qualitative research paradigm has increased in the
course of time. Most of the concepts, values methods within qualitative research paradigm
are related to ethnographic research. The ethnographic research method developed by
anthropologists is also known as anthropologic field study. Ethnography can be described
as an in-depth and holistic analysis of a cultural system. In some educational qualitative
studies, data are gathered within a short period comparing with traditional anthropologic
field research. This drift related to ethnographic research led to some criticism. Especially
educational researchers using this method are criticized since they employ this method
without taking values and understanding of ethnographic research into consideration.
As opposed to other behaviorist researchers anthropologists see ethnographic techniques
as a system of values. Basic features of this system of values are phenomenology, holism,
