In this article, the Culture of Sufism ‘Patience’ concept, without isolated
from the Quranic point of view, was discussed and analized in terms of psychological
concepts and especially from the views of some sufis like Kuşeyrî, Kelâbazî, Sühreverdî,
Hucvirî, Muhasibî, İsmail Hakkı Bursevî and Mevlânâ. In this context, from a Qranic
perspective, “Patience” is showing firmness, wisdom, perseverance and courage in
any trouble. From a mystical perspective, patience is the art of enduring pain, avoding
from the complains of pain and intimidation of pain. People can endure the results of
disasters and the apparent severity of worship only by patience. Therefore, grasping
the depth of patience, is important for understanding the psychological effects of it.
Along with these, understanding the concept of “Patience” from the psychological
point of views like self-control, self-respect, self-recognition and self-actualization,
is important to understand both the psychological effects of patience and to dealing
with the challenges of life.
