1356259469 Public Houses and Schools in View of the Struggle to Install Republican Culture During Atatürk’s Administration

Mustafa Kemal, who sets off with the idea to build a secular Republic of Turkey
over the Ottoman lands, initiated radical renewals in order to infuse the public with missing
republican culture, with aims to establish Turkey amongst the modern civilizations.
Through the public schools formed following the Alphabet Revolution, Mustafa Kemal
aimed to literate the public by raising dynamic, enlightened, well-educated persons who
will undertake the forming values of republican system, and he managed to increase the
percentage of literacy to 20,4% in 1935 which was stated 8,08% in 1927.
Mustafa Kemal, thoroughly with the public houses formed in 1931, planned to demonstrate
cultural movements to raise Turkish Public to the levels of modern civilizations, and
organized educational campaigns aiming to emphasize better to the people, the structures
of the revolutions.
This announcement aims to put forth the endeavours, reigonal formings and contributions
made to the establishment of republican culture on Turkish people by the public houses
and schools, which were formed by Mustafa Kemal with means of being cultural
foundations during the initial years of the republic.
