1356126106 Relations Between Culture, Art and Science in the Changing World

Art and science have similarities as well as differences, and they continually
influence each other.
The definition of art differs in each period of time, society and art domain. Today, by
the concept of art we generally mean visual arts; but at the ancient times, the word
‘art’ indicated the creative force; just like sciences, and like them it was subject to
classification. Under this point of view, art has a common meaning with technology.
Science can be defined as the totality of systematic knowledge on a given area or issue.
Art has always been taking advantage from the results obtained by science. However,
in modern times, with the recognition of esthetics as a scientific discipline, art itself
became one.
As for our epoch, the relations between art, science and technology are far more
complicated than in the past. In this world of interaction take part various modern
forms and techniques.
