The relations between the elements which form the social structure, and
knowledge types, which exist in social structure, stand out at first sight. In other
words, ıt can be stated that there are close relations between the development of
knowledge types in society and the knowledge level of social structure. Looking at
this point, it is understood that knowledge types, which were adopted or are being
adopted by the society, play roles in the changes that appear in social structure.
Man made some activities to understand what is going on around himself. During these
activities, he acquired some differnt knowledge which is either daily or systematic. The
acquired knowledge, surrounding both individual and society, interact with cultural
elements and may start a process. When the social structure is examined or the findings
of studies on past social structures are compared with the present social structures, the
formation of social structure and stages of change in societies can be observed.
In this study, using historical data, the development of knowledge in Christian western
societies and Islamic societies, and its relations with social structure is examined.
Consequently, it is understood that there are interactive relatins between knowledge
and social structure, and also both societies or all societies impress each other in forming
civilisation and changing process.
