1356120361 A Very Fast Fault Triggering Algorithm Algorithm by Using Elman ANN at Power Transmission Lines’ Faults

The rapid detection of the fault is important because faults may cause damage,
completely harm or reducing life of the equipment, failure of substation or large-scale power
outages in the region and also may harm human life. On the other hand, the electricity
can’t be cut off for a possibility of fault because for not having a low electricity quality. In
this study a new fault detection algorithm, which could be working with fault detection
methods, as if triggering signal at distance protection relay, was developed by using Elman
artificial neural network. The difference between this study with previous studies were real
fault signals ware used and the developed method was very fast method.Obtained results
are compared with the previous works’ and distance protection relay’s results. As a result
it was seen that Elman artificial neural networks could be used in very fast fault detection.
